Particularly suited to historic oak, elm and characterful wooden floors, it offers a sympathetic approach where a complete sanding and refinishing treatment may be unnecessary or undesirable.

What our deep-cleaning service involves

Every floor begins with a careful assessment. We consider the timber, its condition and any existing finish before recommending a suitable treatment.

Where appropriate, the process includes:

• Specialist cleaning: We apply a professional cleaning solution in repeated treatments to lift accumulated surface dirt, grease and residues of existing oil or hardwax oil.

• Careful removal of residues: The surface is wiped down with clean water, using controlled amounts of moisture appropriate to the floor.

• Drying: We allow the timber to dry thoroughly before applying the finishing treatment.

• Protective finish: Once the floor is dry, we apply a suitable finish to nourish the timber, refresh its natural appearance and provide lasting protection..

This treatment is intended for suitable oiled or hardwax-oiled floors and does not remove lacquer. We will explain what is appropriate for your floor before work begins.

What results can you expect?

A professional deep clean can considerably improve the appearance of a tired wooden floor, leaving it looking cleaner, refreshed and better cared for.

It will not create the smooth, uniform appearance associated with sanding and refinishing. Deep scratches, dents, areas of heavy wear and deeply ingrained dirt may remain visible.

Dark staining, including tannin marks within oak, may also remain. As these marks can extend into the timber, they cannot usually be removed through surface cleaning alone.

If your wooden floor is sound and you would like to refresh its appearance while retaining its existing texture and patina, deep cleaning may be the right choice.

If the floor has loose or damaged boards, a heavily worn finish or areas requiring more extensive repair, our Wooden Floor Restoration Service may be more suitable. Depending on its condition, this could involve targeted repairs, sanding or hand-scraping, followed by a new protective finish.
